BEYOND THE MASCARA

  • by

Beyond the Mascara is an engaging seminar designed to encourage female students to consider how they view and value what it is to be a healthy, authentic female in today’s society. The process incorporates an overview of healthy and unhealthy feminine messages, beliefs and actions. The program applies and develops the skills for living out innate confidence, practising compassion for others and oneself, growing in capacity, and going beyond constant comparison.

Beyond the Mascara equips and transforms students by…

  • Analyse influencers, messages, beliefs and actions popularised by society
  • Critique cultural ideas of ‘normal’
  • Discover and implement healthy behaviours, attitudes and beliefs about females
  • Embrace skills that foster healthy, authentic femininity in themselves and other females around them

As per Personal and Social Capabilities in the Australian National Curriculum, students are invited to assess their strengths and challenges and devise personally appropriate strategies to achieve future success; plan, implement and evaluate ways of contributing to civil society at the local level; clarify complex information and ideas drawn from a range of sources; and create and connect complex ideas using imagery, analogies and symbolism.
